What happens when I reach 100 people on Starter?
Your tree stays safe. To add more people, upgrade to Monthly, Annual or Lifetime in one tap. Nothing you've entered is lost or hidden.
Can I add a custom domain after I buy?
Yes. Every hosted plan can add a domain at any time, whether you bring your own or have us register one.
Why are photos limited to 1 MB?
We resize and compress each photo as you upload it, so it looks sharp and your storage lasts. 5 photos per person keeps every profile fast to open.
What if I cancel and come back later?
We never delete your tree. It stays safe, just inactive. To bring it back, there's a one-time $59.99 restore fee, plus the current price of the plan you choose (Starter, Monthly or Annual).
What if I don't renew my domain?
Your tree stays online at its default link and nothing is deleted. Links that use your custom domain stop working until you renew, so share the default link if you're unsure.
What about a domain you registered for me?
It's registered in your name, so you own it. We email you 60, 30 and 7 days before it renews, and keep it connected for 30 days after if it lapses. After that, the domain's registrar decides whether it can be recovered, and we can't promise it.
Do Self-host owners get storage or domain add-ons?
No. Self-host uses your own server and domain, so there's nothing for us to host.
Where can I see how much storage I'm using?
In your tree's Admin, under Settings → Storage. It shows what you've used, your plan's limit, and any storage add-ons you've bought.
Are photos included when I import or export my tree?
No. Import and export cover your people, relationships and details, but not photos. See the terms below.
📄 Storage, import and export terms
Photos are not included in import or export. Exporting your tree does not include photos, and importing a file does not bring photos in. After an import, you add photos to your tree again by uploading them.
Photo limits. Each person can have up to 5 photos, each up to 1 MB. We compress photos when you upload them.
Storage usage. You can see your used storage, your plan's limit and any storage add-ons in your tree's Admin under Settings.
Storage add-ons. Extra storage is billed yearly and is separate from your plan.
Self-host. Storage limits don't apply to Self-host, because your files live on your own server.
Restoring a cancelled tree. We never delete your tree after you cancel. Restoring it is a one-time $59.99 fee, plus the plan price at the time you come back. Restoring is a separate charge from the plan itself.
